With nearly 50 years’ experience in the security and crime prevention industries, Martin is a well-known, colourful and highly respected personality in the cyber security world. 

He founded The Security Awareness Special Interest Group (SASIG) in 2004 as a subscription-free networking forum for security practitioners. Its membership now comprises +9,000 individuals representing +4,000 organisations from both the public and private sectors around the world. Martin is a Fellow of The Security Institute. In 2017, he received a lifetime achievement award for his services to the security industry. In 2024, he received a Commendation from the City of London Police Commissioner and the National Police Chiefs’ Council for his lifetime’s work in combatting cybercrime.

Tarquin is a former senior diplomat with over 30 years government service in the military and FCO, where he focused on national security policy. He served in Europe, Asia Pacific and the Middle East before retiring in 2013. Since then, he has worked in the UK’s tech sector. He is currently Vice Chairman of the Security Awareness Special Interest Group (SASIG). Tarquin has an interest in the nexus between technology and human users as a point of vulnerability and the continuing influence of geopolitics on the digital threat landscape.
