
Gizem Acar Tekin

Gizem Acar Tekin is the CEO and co-founder of Photarix, a Lancaster University spinout developing room-temperature, telecom-compatible single-photon sources for secure quantum communication. She is also a Research Associate in the Physics Department at Lancaster University, pursuing her PhD in quantum photonics under the EU-funded QUANTIMONY project. She successfully led an Innovate UK ICURe-funded project on QR-SPLEDs and also led the NW CyberCom project, which is now coming to an end, focusing on innovation in quantum communication networks. With a background in semiconductor device fabrication, international research experience, and leadership of multiple Innovate UK-funded initiatives, Gizem combines deep technical expertise with entrepreneurial drive to bring single photon LED technology from lab to market.
