Age verification affects everyone’s privacy
Other countries are following
Australia isn’t the only country that is implementing age verification. The United Kingdom and many states in the U.S. are also implementing age verification. In addition, the EU is actively working on this.
What if things go wrong?
Privacy is important. Every day, we face hackers who manage to breach systems through cyberattacks. Of course, the government tells us that the data we share for age verification isn’t stored. But can we really be sure of that? And what if it does happen? Maybe by the government itself, maybe by the companies that facilitate age verification, or by hackers who’ve managed to manipulate the system.
Our position
NovaCustom is against sensitive age verification and believes that making social media use illegal is sufficient. We view discouraging children from using social media, among other things, as a responsibility for parents, not for politicians.
